Picnic In The Park

The beeping of my alarm was not a welcomed sound this morning! It seems like the more fun you have during the weekend, the harder it is to get back into the swing of things when the start of a new week rolls around, doesn’t it?
Yesterday, after a delicious homemade breakfast of omelets and green smoothies, Jason and I relaxed for a while, did some homework and then got ready for our special afternoon activity.

So what did my wooonderful fiance plan for us? A picnic!

This was the only semi-successful attempt at a family photo.
Barrett fail.

We set up our blanket in a sunny spot at the park and enjoyed a spread of crackers, brie cheese, sliced veggies, turkey, salami and guacamole. Then we shared a few squares of dark chocolate for dessert while laying in the sun. It was such a fun way to spend the afternoon!
For dinner, Jason suggested salads. Check this guy out! Suggesting salads for dinner?! What a guy! I was not going to disagree with such a great suggestion, so we headed downtown to a local restaurant with the best build-your-own salad bar that I have ever seen. We decided to split a salad and a sandwich. We selected the mixed green salad, and topped it with tomatoes, red onions, broccoli, edemame, walnuts, carrots and potatoes.
And split a build-your-own sandwich filled with tri-tip, pepper-jack cheese, field greens and tomatoes.
Everything was delicious, and it was the perfect amount of food

We still had room for dessert!
We decided to stop at Dairy Queen (it had been AGES since either of us had been their) and split a Double Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Blizzard.

Yeah, it was just as good as it sounds. It was big, but between the two of us, we had no trouble conquering it.

Jason was lucky enough to have today off work so he could travel back down to southern California. But, before he got on the road, we had one last meal together.
We had to make a pit stop at Starbucks on the way!

With coffees in hand, we went to a favorite local restaurant for a delicious breakfast.
We both ordered crepes, and my choice was the California Crepe filled with avocado, spinach, onions, sun-dried tomato pesto and provolone cheese that came with a side of potatoes. It was great! After we were sufficiently stuffed, Jason dropped me off on campus for my morning class and hit the road.

It was such a great weekend! But, I can not wait to see the gym later today!

  1. It was my first time being taken on picnic, but we already have plans to do more! We want to go to the beach next time 🙂 It is such a fun, romantic and relatively inexpensive date!
